A crypto casino cashier often shows a dozen options: BTC, LTC, ETH, SOL, TRX, BNB, USDT on several networks, sometimes Lightning or a layer-2 network too. The choice is not just a matter of taste. The network determines how quickly money moves, what it costs, which coin the fee is paid in and how high the price of a mistake is. The coin's name is secondary: the same USDT can move on five different chains, each with its own rules.
We do not name exact fee amounts here, because they change with network load and the coin's price. We compare orders of magnitude and properties. You always see the final fee on the wallet's or exchange's confirmation screen.
The comparison at a glance
| Network | Typical speed | Fee level | Fee paid in | Exchange-rate risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin | tens of minutes to an hour | variable, high under load | BTC | yes |
| Lightning | seconds | very low | BTC | yes |
| Litecoin | minutes | low | LTC | yes |
| Ethereum main chain | minutes | variable, can be high | ETH | yes for ETH, no for a stablecoin |
| Layer-2 networks | seconds to minutes | low | usually ETH | depends on the coin |
| Tron (TRC-20) | seconds to a minute | low to medium | TRX (energy) | no for a stablecoin |
| Solana | seconds | very low | SOL | no for a stablecoin |
| BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) | seconds | low | BNB | no for a stablecoin |
"Speed" here means the time until the confirmations the casino requires are in — the casino's own processing time comes on top.
Bitcoin and Lightning
Bitcoin is the most widely supported, but on the chain the fee is independent of the amount and confirmations are slow. For a small amount the fee's share is large; for a large amount the Bitcoin chain is still a common choice. Lightning solves speed and fees, but not all casinos or wallets support it, and payment is made with an invoice rather than an address.
Litecoin
Litecoin works like a faster and cheaper Bitcoin: blocks come about four times as often and fees are usually small. The exchange-rate risk remains and is often greater than with bitcoin. A good choice if you already hold LTC; if you buy crypto only to play, consider a stablecoin.
Ethereum and layer-2 networks
On Ethereum's main chain you pay a gas fee that swings with load and can be unreasonably large for a small deposit. Layer-2 networks — for example Arbitrum, Optimism and Base — make the same transfer cheap. The trap: the address looks the same on all of them (0x…), but the money only arrives if the casino supports that particular network. If the cashier says "ERC-20", it means the main chain.
Tron
Tron is common at casinos because USDT on TRC-20 is fast and usually cheap. The fee is not paid directly but as energy and bandwidth; if you use your own wallet you need a little TRX. Tron USDT users are also a frequent target of address poisoning — always copy the address from the cashier. More: TRC-20 vs ERC-20.
Solana
Solana is very fast and fees are very low. At casinos it is used for SOL and Solana-based stablecoins. Bear in mind that the wallet needs a little SOL for fees and that Solana addresses are not compatible with Ethereum ones. The network has also had outages during which transfers stalled; for a casino player that means a rare but possible wait.
BNB Smart Chain
BEP-20, or BNB Smart Chain, is an Ethereum-compatible network with lower fees. Addresses look like Ethereum ones, which makes the wrong-network mistake especially easy here. The fee is paid in BNB.
How to choose
- Start with what the casino and your exchange have in common. The best network is the one both ends support under the same name.
- To avoid exchange-rate risk use a stablecoin on a cheap network; see also USDC and depeg.
- For small and frequent amounts choose a low-fee network; with a large one-off amount the fee's share is smaller in any case.
- Check you hold the fee coin when sending from your own wallet: TRX for Tron, SOL for Solana, ETH for Ethereum and L2.
- The first time, send a small test amount. If something gets stuck, the guide stuck crypto deposit helps.
A fast and cheap network is convenient, but it also makes the next deposit easy. Fix your gambling budget before the first transfer — the limits planner helps. None of the casinos compared here is connected to Estonia's HAMPI register. Free help: 15410. Network support by casino: payments page.
Frequently asked questions
Which network is cheapest at a casino?
Usually Solana, Lightning, layer-2 networks and Tron, but the exact fee depends on load, the coin's price and whether you send from an exchange or your own wallet. Always check the final amount on the confirmation screen.
Does a faster network mean a faster withdrawal?
Only partly. The network determines how quickly the transfer moves, but the casino's processing time and any KYC check come on top. A fast network at a slow casino is still slow.
Why can I not send USDT from my wallet even though the balance is there?
Probably the wallet lacks the network's own coin to pay the fee: TRX for Tron, SOL for Solana or ETH for Ethereum. Buy or transfer a small amount there and try again.
