TRC-20 is the token standard on the Tron network and, in practice, the railway along which most casino USDT travels. When the cashier offers "USDT (TRC-20)", it means the stablecoin is sent via the Tron network rather than Ethereum.
Why casinos and players prefer it
Confirmation usually arrives within minutes and the network fee is small and independent of the amount — moving 20 or 2,000 USDT costs the same on the network. ERC-20 is the same USDT, but there the fee depends on network load and can eat a significant share of a small withdrawal. The one serious risk: the wrong network
An address looks different on every network, but the cashier does not check for you. If you send TRC-20 funds to an ERC-20 address or the other way round, the best case is a long exchange with support and a service fee, the worst is permanent loss. The rule is simple: the network has to match at both ends, and the first transfer to a new casino is always made with a small test amount.
What to check
- The withdrawal network. Some casinos accept a deposit on TRC-20 but offer withdrawal on a different network.
- The minimum withdrawal and the casino's own service fee. Alongside the network fee there is often a second fee set by the casino.
- How many confirmations the casino waits for before crediting — that number is in the cashier or the FAQ.
- The memo/tag field. USDT on TRC-20 does not require one, but with some other coins a transfer sent without a memo goes missing on the recipient's side.
The network decides the fee and the speed; the casino decides how long the request waits before it even reaches the network.
How the Tron fee works
On Tron a transaction uses up resources (bandwidth and energy), which are normally paid for in the network's base coin, TRX. That is why the token rule applies: to send USDT you must also have a little TRX in the wallet. If there is no TRX, the transfer may not go through at all. The exact price of the resources depends on the state of the network and on the wallet's resources, so look at the fee in the wallet before confirming. An example of why the fee share matters
Take a fee of 1 USDT as an illustration. On a 20 USDT withdrawal that is 5%, on 500 USDT only 0.2%. Although TRC-20 is usually cheaper than the Ethereum network, the fee is still noticeable with a small amount. How to recognise a Tron address
A Tron address starts with the letter T and is generally 34 characters long, which clearly sets it apart from the 0x addresses of Ethereum and BNB Chain. This protects against sending to the wrong network, but not completely: if the cashier offers several networks for the same coin, choose the right network before copying the address. When TRC-20 is not the best choice
- If the casino does not offer TRC-20 for withdrawals, a cheap deposit does not help.
- If the recipient (an exchange, a wallet) does not support Tron, you have to choose a common network.
