USDC

A dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle. Moves on several networks; less common in casino cashiers than USDT.

20/10/2026

USDC (USD Coin) is a stablecoin issued by the company Circle and designed to hold the value of one US dollar. According to the issuer, each coin is backed by reserves in cash and short-term US Treasuries; Circle publishes regular reports on the reserves on its USDC page.

USDC and USDT at a casino

  • Reach. USDT is more widely supported at crypto casinos. USDC is available in many cashiers, but not all and not on all networks.
  • Networks. USDC moves on several chains, for example Ethereum (ERC-20), Solana and several layer-2 networks. The casino cashier says which network it supports for USDC specifically — it may not be the same as for USDT.
  • Transparency. USDC is generally regarded as more transparent and more strictly regulated, which is why some players prefer it.

What to check before a USDC deposit

  • Whether the casino supports USDC on exactly the network where you hold it. USDC on Solana and USDC on Ethereum are different tokens on different chains; the wrong network usually means lost money.
  • Whether the withdrawal is also in USDC on the same network, or the casino converts the balance into USDT or a dollar account in between.
  • The network fee: on Ethereum's main chain a USDC transfer is more expensive than on cheap networks because of the gas fee.

Risks

USDC is not risk-free. In March 2023 it briefly lost its dollar peg when part of the reserve was caught in the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank — see depeg. The peg recovered within a few days, but the case shows that even a well-regulated stablecoin's value depends on how its reserves are held.

The second risk is the casino itself: USDC does not protect you if the casino refuses a withdrawal. The quality of the coin and the casino's trustworthiness are two separate questions.

USDC and European rules

In the European Union the issuing of stablecoins is regulated by the MiCA regulation. Because of it some European exchanges have restricted the offer of certain stablecoins to EEA users, while coins from MiCA-compliant issuers have stayed available. In practice this means USDC may be easier for an Estonian player to get on an exchange than some other stablecoin — check your exchange's offer. Guide

USDC from an Estonian player's point of view

An Estonian player usually buys a stablecoin on a European exchange and therefore has to account for MiCA's effect on the exchange's offer. If your exchange offers USDC but not USDT, check before buying whether your chosen casino accepts USDC and on which network. Otherwise the money has to be swapped in between, and every swap costs.

USDC does not change a foreign casino's legal position: none of the houses compared here holds an Estonian licence or is connected to the HAMPI register. Alternatives with an Estonian licence are gathered in the pangakasiinod.ee comparison. See also the network comparison and the payments page.
