TXID (transaction hash)

A transaction's unique identifier on the chain. With it you find a transfer in a block explorer and prove to support that money moved.

20/10/2026

A TXID (transaction ID), or transaction hash, is a long string of letters and numbers identifying one specific transaction on a blockchain. It is produced from the transaction data with a hash function, so two different transactions cannot share a TXID. A wallet or exchange shows it right after sending, sometimes under the name "transaction hash" or "tx hash".

Why it matters to a casino player

A crypto payment has no bank statement or payment order number. The TXID is the only thing linking the money you sent to a specific transfer on the chain. If a deposit does not appear in the balance or a withdrawal does not reach the wallet, it is the first thing any support team asks for.

  • For a deposit you supply the TXID yourself: copy it from the wallet or the exchange history.
  • For a withdrawal ask the casino for the TXID. If the casino cannot give one, the transfer has probably not been made yet — "sent" in the cashier does not always mean the money is on the chain.

How to use a TXID

Paste the TXID into the block explorer for the right network: for Bitcoin for example mempool.space, for Ethereum and ERC-20 Etherscan, for Tron and TRC-20 Tronscan. Look at four things: status (pending, successful, failed), recipient address, amount and the number of confirmations.

What a TXID shows and what it does not

A TXID proves that the transaction exists and where it went. It does not prove that the address belonged to the casino whose cashier you were in — for that you compare the recipient address with the one shown in the cashier. Nor does it say anything about the casino's internal balance: the casino can receive the money and delay crediting it, for example because of a KYC check.

If you cannot find the TXID in a block explorer, there are three usual reasons: you are searching the wrong network's explorer, the transaction has not reached the network yet, or you copied the hash only partly. If the transaction is in the mempool, the explorer shows it as pending.

Good practice

Save the TXID of every deposit and withdrawal together with the date, amount and casino name. It takes a second and saves days in a dispute. The same list is also useful for a tax return — see taxation of crypto assets. If things come to a dispute, the complaints guide helps.

TXID from an Estonian player's point of view

In a dispute with a foreign crypto casino an Estonian player has no supervisory authority to turn to in the way there is with an operator holding an Estonian licence. That is why the TXID is your main evidence: it shows a timestamp, amount and recipient address that nobody can change afterwards.

Write down every transfer's TXID straight away. If a withdrawal is delayed, ask the casino in writing for the TXID and check it yourself in a block explorer — that quickly separates a casino delay from a network one. Step by step: stuck crypto deposit and how to withdraw from a crypto casino.

A list of TXIDs is also the simplest way to see how much you are really transferring to casinos. If the total surprises you, see the limits guide or take the self-test. Free counselling: 15410.
